We are excited to welcome our keynote speakers:
Dr. Rochelle Green is a Lecturer in Philosophy and Anthropology at California State University, San Marcos. Dr. Green's research focuses on the intersection between hope, political action, and identity. She is the editor of Faces of Hope, and has authored several articles on Ernst Bloch's philosophy of hope and nostalgia. In addition to her professorship, Dr. Green is a Research Psychoanalytic Candidate with a private practice in Newport, CA.
Allison Merrick is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at California State University, San Marcos. She is currently researching the ethical thought of Nietzsche and how the history of philosophy can help us solve critical issues in health and medicine. Her recent book chapters and articles include: “‘We Need a Critique of Moral Values:’ Regarding Genealogy and Normativity,” “A Paradox of Hope? Towards a Feminist Approach to Palliation,” “How Not to Affirm One’s Life: Nietzsche and the Paradoxical Task of Life Affirmation.”
